Dubai Womens Run 2014
Last weekend (November 7) was a blast for some women of Dubai who took part in the 5th Women's Run organized by the Dubai Holdings. A cool and breezy morning greeted the lovely ladies in their running gears as they gathered at the Jumeirah Beach Park corner of Jumeirah Beach Road and Al Athar Street in Jumeirah 3 as early as 5:30 a.m. Women ranging from their 20s to 50s came in groups, parading their smiles and it was a joyful sight to behold these ladies getting loose yet staying feminine. Elite runners were seriously doing their stretches while others just joined in to get fit and just have fun with their friends. Sponsors of the run were also stationed in their assigned post and generously distributing their sample products.
The race kicked off at 7am and lady runners for 10k were the first to go, followed by the runners for 5k. The Jumeirah road became a ramp not for models but for these lady runners mostly in their pink and purple gears. Some nurseries, water products, fruit products, fitness group were stationed to market what they've got and joined the runners while cheering for the first few finishers. It was so fun that despite their tired legs and thirsty throat, these women had enough strength to dance with the beat as music played in the air. Gold's Gym dancers came rocking the day with their moves while the ladies were swaying with them.
And of course, in every race comes a winner or a champion. Here are the results of the race: 10k 1st Prize Marjan Faraidooni 2nd Prize Rasheda Khatun 3rd Prize Shamma Mohammed Al Mulla 5k Winners 1st Prize Sarah Faraidooni 2nd Prize Sulafa Mohammed 3rd Prize Sara Bin Kalban As a male photographer here in Dubai, taking part in an event such as this, and witnessing women showing off their strength was quite an experience for me. Women possess an inner strength that will be helpful for every masculine species...And most of all, women are worth every man's respect.
